An lesson with white balance

This is a little lesson in "white balance". This leaves on this tree, in real life, were extremely vibrant in its yellow-green colors, and seemed to jump out against the dim, dull, cloudy sky.

This is a picture with the white balance set to zero. It looks normal and boring, and doesn't capture the vibrancy of the colors.

This is the same tree with the white balance set to -2. It looks like a scary horror movie where someone is going to be murdered. A lot of the color is gone.

This is the same tree with the white balance set to +2. It looks blown out and the colors have also lost their vibrancy because the light takes over.

This is the same tree with the white balance set to +1. It's not perfect, but its better than zero or +2. To get the colors right, you need a little photoshop.
This is the product of 30 seconds of photo-editing. With more time, you could photoshop the sky blue and make it look more like california and less like the a land shrouded in clouds of doom

SCUBA - i wish i had an underwater camera

i havent put up pictures in a long time, i know, i'm sorry. BUT in the meantime you can check out some sweet pictures from my SCUBA dives (3/28 and 4/11)! i didn't take them, but they're still entertaining, i think.

for pictures from march 28th, click here. (you'll still have to choose the album titled "march 28" we dove in Emerald Bay, near Catalina Island and went down to 28 feet. i'm in the black wetsuit with the orange BC (looks like a backpack) and yellow fins, i appear at picture 96 for the first time and an exceptionally cool one might be picture 88. the photographer was our dive instructor, Rusty.

for pictures from april 11th, click here. we dove again near Catalina, and this time went down to about 35 feet. the photographer was the captain and divemaster, Jerry, and he had to stay on the boat the whole time so none of the pictures are underwater.

im still trying to figure out how to save these pictures on my computer so if you figure out how let me know!
